Our Central Unit is situated in the City of Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Acting as the operational hub for all of our shops across the UK's second-largest county, the Central Unit is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals who strive to provide a steady stream of high quality stock for our customers to buy and enjoy.
The vast majority of our stock comes to us in the form of donations from the public, with donated items ranging all the way from brand new & sealed goods, to items that are decidedly vintage and pre-loved! After our professional sorting team has appraised the items we receive, they are dispatched to our various shops across the county, and items with international appeal are given to the eBay store in order to reach a global market.
If the items we receive can't be sold, we are usually able to recycle them, and this can still generate revenue for the charity. As an example, any clothing that is found to be unsuitable is recycled by being turned into rags, which is then sold onto recycling companies in bulk. Similarly, books and metal items that are well past being usable can also be sold to recycling schemes as raw material.
Whatever donated items come our way, you can be sure we'll turn them into money that will make a real difference to the lives of the people we support. For more information on the work of St Barnabas Hospices in Lincolnshire, please visit our official website.
In support of our fundraising, we are extremely proud and excited to be involved in the UK Government's "Gift Aid" scheme (more info here), which means that we can raise an extra 25% on the sale of donated items. It's quick, free and easy to sign up, so please chat to one of our staff the next time you drop by! You can visit us at any of our shops across the county.
